With a memory of up to 256 steps, Rugged Robot will be able to carry out the most challenging of activities. With three speeds, students can set how fast the robot moves. It also boasts an obstacle sensor that can be turned on and off to prepare students for the more complex programming that lies ahead. This sensor will detect obstacles in front of and behind the robot and can rotate 45 degrees before carrying out the rest of the program.
The Blue’s Blocs app is also compatible with Rugged Robot. This app allows for expansion of knowledge and teaching at greater depth in elementary computer science. Using a familiar block-based environment, students can program their Rugged Robot using extended functionality, which includes decision-making, numerical functions, Boolean operators, and the introduction of variables. The Blue’s Blocs app is compatible with Chromebooks, iOS, and Android.
