Explore Australia: Through the Eyes of the Aborigines

This Australia unit is a 15-day exploration integrating History, Geography, Science, Technology, ELA, Art,Math, and Citizenship/SEL lessons. The unit follows the theme of community spirit through developing awareness and involvement. These lessons extend the students’ knowledge of text types such as descriptive texts and oral storytelling. The students analyze these texts and complete activities which develop an understanding of their structure and function. This unit is based around the introduction of Australia as a place and the exploration of Australia’s history, its place in the world, and its rich culture. Students will read, write, and conduct research as they explore both themselves and the Australian cultures and landmarks.
