Perfect for grades 5–12, this hands-on pack encourages students to build, test, and iterate their own tension-powered launchers—then automate them using Hummingbird Bit or Finch robots.

Each students’ team begins by constructing a sturdy, functional catapult frame—learning core physics concepts like levers, torque, potential energy, and projectile motion. As they fine-tune launch angle and tension, learners collect data and apply math; by measuring ranges, adjusting arm lengths, and optimizing accuracy, they develop critical problem-solving skills.

Next, take the project to the next level by integrating robotics. Using the Hummingbird Bit controller or Finch Robot, teams can program triggers or use sensors to automate the launch process—blending engineering with coding. This scaffolding supports a smooth transition from hands-on mechanic design to precise, repeatable robotic control.

The pack includes materials and instructions for five complete builds, making it ideal for classroom or club use.
